Wolf NYC
Wolf is located in the new flagship Nordstrom store in mid-town Manhattan, NYC. Three floors above the street the 90 seat restaurant includes a lounge, 33 seat bar and private dining spaces. The design is influenced by modern Nordic design and detailing filtered through the spirit of the Pacific Northwest.
We felt it was important to reflect this local history and spirit, rather than follow trends and/or try and copy what the cool kids were doing in NYC.
We approached this at a high level through a combination of beauty, simplicity, and functionality.
The plan layout is simple and straight forward with the kitchen functioning as the central hearth and focus. The kitchen is conceived as a theater, or stage that provides energy and drama while quests sit around a monolithic stone bar taking in the show. If not at the bar quests sit more intimately around the perimeter of the space, along floor to ceiling glass, observing the activity of the city below.
On a more granular level, this is achieved through careful detailing of seating banquets and casework pieces, use of natural wood/stone/fabrics, and plants integrated throughout reflecting the PNW's love of the outdoors and value we place on nature.
